If you like adventure activities and you enjoy hiking, the route to the fortress of “Waqrapukara” is ideal for you.
The Waqrapukara fortress is an impressive tourist attraction located in the province of Acos – Cusco. This structure that reflects the extensive knowledge of pre-Inca and Inca architects, combines lithic constructions in elevated places without modifying the natural environment.
We start the tour with the pick-up from your lodging, between 4:00 and 4:30 am. The process is done in compliance with the biosecurity and health protocols established by MINSA.
We will begin our adventure to Waqrapukara at about 5:00 am, we will go to the district of Cusipata, where we will have breakfast, then we will continue the trip by a zigzagging unpaved road for approximately 40 minutes more. We will descend in the place called Punta de Carretera, where we will get ready to start the hike to the fortress. Throughout the walk we will observe beautiful landscapes of the region as high Andean lakes (cochas), upon reaching the “cochas” we will have a first photo session and then begin the descent to the fortress of Waqrapukara, the walk is approximately 40 minutes until you reach the ceremonial center. At this point you can see impressive rock formations that give way to the valley of the Apurimac River, you will also appreciate a series of terraces and buildings of pre-Inca and Inca times. Our guide will start with the explanation and we will continue with the tour that lasts approximately 1 hour and a half. Then we will have some time for photographs and we will get ready to start with the walk back to the viewpoint of Waqrapukara, after a short rest we will continue to the site called Punta de Carretera, where our tourist transport will be waiting for us to take us back to the city of Cusco. We will arrive to the city approximately between 18:00 and 19:00 hrs.

Restrictions
- We clarify to our clients the following: If the tourist presents a temperature of 37.5 °C during the mandatory control, he/she will not be able to take the tour.
- It is recommended to take the tour with people who can do long walks and who are in good physical condition.
- It is not recommended to take children under 12 years of age on long trekking excursions.
